Safety Systems Engineer

For our client, a leading international laser research center, we are looking for suitable candidates for the position of Safety Systems Engineer.

Job description:

• Develop state-based safety logic definitions for PLCs using a custom code generator, including:
• Machine safety systems
• Vacuum section control systems
• Personal safety systems (PSS) in laser halls
• Supervise hardware and software installations of PLC-based Personal Interlock Systems (PSI) delivered by external suppliers to experimental halls
• Ensure compliance with machine safety standards (IEC 61508)
• Perform fault diagnostics and provide operational support for safety systems
• Support commissioning, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of safety systems
• Document safety systems logic and prepare validation report templates for periodic safety system testing
• Carry out other tasks within the scope of expertise as assigned by the line manager

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s or higher degree in a relevant technical field
• Experience in machine safety, control systems engineering, or industrial automation
• English knowledge at CEFR level B2 or higher

Optional Qualifications (beneficial but not mandatory):

• Certification in Functional Safety (e.g., TÜV or equivalent)
• Working knowledge of a programming language (e.g., Python)
• Experience with PLCs and industrial safety components
• Knowledge of industrial communication protocols
